Google Calendar App Reminders Not Working

For google calendar reminders i get the audio notification it shows on the lock screen and notification panel but it doesn t wake up the screen.

Reminders also do not show up in third party calendar applications so don t expect to use this functionality if you sync google calendar with for example the macos calendar app. You can t add reminders about any point in the past as that would defeat the purpose.
